The Exam Post (post-exam post?)
Posted by MrSaints in Marvellous Misadventures, Spotlight Friday, 8 January 2010 17:41 No Comments
Well its not really the end of my exams yet
Only week one! There’s still week numéro deux leaving the rest of my weekend to a good advantage for me to revise (or leave things till Sunday as usual)! As you can see, I lost my creative juices lately as well as most of my inspiration (if you had notice the new and retarded logo on the top left of the blog). But no worries! I shall revamp this blog sooner or later.
Since I haven’t been posting for a long long time, I shall set this on spotlight category (: (it is a highlight is it not?). In short, I have spent the whole 5-Days of this week with no more than 5-Hours of proper rest. Increase in loss of hair and probably gained a few one or two pimples. FML. Yes. Exams. Although its only mocks, I have no idea why I’m taking it so seriously, P.S. Jafnee: Ms.Southall Notes!
One thing I’m really proud of now… my great collection of Biology and Chemistry notes for IGCSEs!
Oh, I forgot to mention, due to various obligations, I missed my one chance to “win” something from the Adobe Innovative Awards 2009. I can’t forgive myself till today. Seriously. But it’s the past, so I’ll have to just move on. Anyhow, I have installed LiteSpeed on my Netherlands server recently, and wow, a significant performance improvement (Yes, its only a 15-Days trial at the moment).
Previously, with suPHP, the RAM (Memory) usage was at an average 20% (If I’m not mistaken), but due to the way ’suPHP’ works, I often suffered High CPU Loads (for no apparent reasons) resulting in absolutely slow loading pages. Another factor I believe that has cause this is because of the I/O problems. With not much knownledge of the actual situation, I recompiled Apache and PHP into FastCGI mode (mod_fcgid). Yes, it was great at first, but many sites suffered random and unexaplainable problems. Sadly, it did not really help in terms of CPU reduction, even with nginx working as a reverse proxy. Which led me to my final solution, LiteSpeed.
So, Thank God It’s Friday! I have the rest of the day to fool around and sleep (yay!) .
Perhaps I should also get started on revision?
I won’t have time to update. Sooo don’t expect anything for a while

~Tenchi12 - For the amazing ’spotlight’ image taken from his DeviantArt.
I really find quite a lot of deviantArt images great pieces of art, thus I’ll continue using them to show people what I mean!
As usual, shout out to: Winn, Han Yang, Jafnee, Haren.
Byeee!
Do not ask me.

Inspite of my previous post (ages back) about some ‘Matahari Malam’ that exploited a security vulnerability on my school’s website and hacked it; I would like to make a small clarification that I have no involvement or knownledge of whatever happened yesterday (9/9/9).
The mere use of ‘Aerosol’ as a team name has no relevance to Aerosol Studios, and I take it that most of my close online friends would recognize that I do not have such capabilities to do so. So this is just a small clarification that, the use of this so-call ‘Team Aerosol’ has no LINKS, no RELEVANCE or in no way have anything to do with me, Aerosol Hostings, etc.
So stop with your random accussations (if you are). I do take a common interest in recognizing the issues the site may face or the issues its currently facing (just like many people would), but I do not in anyway consider abusing such flaws or going through the trouble of learning how to, hence, I do not bother about it. This site is publicly available and there is a high chance anyone could had stumble onto such site.
I must admit, it was really funny whilst it lasted when I heard about it through Facebook.
P.S. It would quite anger me seeing a small contribution I made to Moodle (yes, the logo) being defaced, so no.
The day, it went all wrong.

Well for those that small my Twitter update the other day about GIS website getting hacked. Really, it wasn’t me.
I have no idea or no relationship to what had happened but it sure was funny. According to what I see in the source, I’m guessing the titles for pages and sections are store on the database and easily configured through an admincp I presume?
Well that is a good way of management I guess, but lols. I’m sure going to love keeping this on my blog (left).
It was really disgraceful though. Mainly because they hired professionals to design the website and also because it was coded in ASP. ASP in my opinion is a great web language to be coding websites such as GIS’ one in. Security wise, tends to be very invulnerable (still exploitable though!). Surprisingly, this one was exploited right after it came out of beta.
As this blog is part of the private domain and we do not want to embarass any “organization” or “person” in particular, I attempted to remove any specifics, thus as a disclaimer I am not liable to any sort of punishment or complains as this may refer to almost anything since the abbreviation GIS can refer to anything. In addition to this, there is no direct linking to the specific Twitter update available on this post.
Seems like GIS is a prime target from hackers seeing as their MOODLE (Content Management System) had been crashed in the past and even rolled back. Apparently this time they fixed their website within a period of 24 hours.
Time to do something about this and pump up the security! I don’t blame Moodle however, it is exploitable
And there are many scripts out there to do the job.
Fossil… Family, Literature :D

Well I just got back from my English Literature exam today, it was… tough.
I have no words to describe how it was apart from the fact I stared blank on the question sheet for almost 5~10 minutes without a reason. All I could hear was echos of Mr.Beattie saying, “EXPLAIN THE EFFECT”, “THATS WHERE ALL THE MARKS ALL”. Well congrats to him in getting that stuck in my head, if Seok Won was reading this, I bet you’ll laughing right now.
Anyways, I managed to complete everything, Oh! I also realized I prefer essay based questions rather than passage based analysis. Doesn’t matter now, failed my last question on Bessie Head’s When Rain Clouds Gather, I think. And that on the right is the so-call “King Richard III” literature play we had to study, Richard is quite a retard I must say.
So yea, 2 and a quarter hours and I was finally out. What I day, slept late, woke up early, revised, exam, back home
Relaxing… Though tomorrow is going to be a long day, it’ll be Physics, English paper 2 and History. Oh joy! More writing in History. Back to what happened, since I haven’t finish explaining what happened… okay thats confusing, anyways, after the exams, it was the same old habits, walking up to your friends and going “SHIT! SHIT! I’M GONNA’ FAIL!” with probably some sense of sarcasm? Then it was study leave! And Gloria Jeans coffee.
Since it was around 12.30pm, McDonald’s was the a good choice I could get a decent lunch in for 6RM, lol. So yea, in the car my mom was talking about what happened last night on Sunday, some Mother’s Day event or something organized by the Church. I didn’t go, I wanted to stay home and revise, my brother stayed home too. So whilst I was eating my mom was talking to me about how Happy my grandmother and father was that night cause the MC told all the sons and daughters to get up and hug their parents
Awhh how HAPPY?
See, I don’t really have a sinister side, people just see me WRONG.
Back in the car after lunch, my mom was talking to me about how the MC was describing kids.
“Oh back then when you were still babies, your parents teach you ABC and 123, now when kids grow up, their parents want to learn about computers, kids say, GO AWAY! You Noob! You Stupid!”, Lol this kinda’ reminded me of myself. Ouchh… Anyways I think thats true
I wasn’t really paying attention, just tried to remember what happened last night and today, food, food, food.
And Lol! I wanted to talk about Fossil Fuel on this blog, but I lost my train of thought and its getting a bit long and boring. Screw that, save it for the other blog post. For those that are interested, I’m not Christian, neither am I a non-believer, I prefer having faith in what I desire.
Lalalalalala… This is a useless post
