F*CK.

Sorry the improper use of language as my post title, but I have never been so annoyed in my life. If you have been reading my AerosolHostings twitter lately you would had realize that my team and myself were performing a postphoned maintenance for the server, all happy and problemless. But this was ONLY a few days after the server was setup by our hosters. After it went down, I was figuring what went wrong only to be mailed by them about an issue…
I think this is pretty self-explanatory:
http://aerosolhost.pastebin.com/ (DELETED ALREADY)
Also, check Twitter.com/AerosolHostings.
I’m really glad at times like these I made a backup, only sad to know it was 2 days back, but anyhow, I have my own personal backup which was around 4 hours back before the incident occured. Coincidently it was before the maintenance in which I urged users to make backups (which they hopefully listened to and did). Anyhow, I will continue updating this and perhaps fuck them over for this bullsh*t.
Thanks Gerald and Yui for keeping me cool
I decided to blog about it, perhaps it would make me better?
P.S. I watched Jack Neo’s comedy ghost movie today (: Its f*ck hilarious, so watch it! (there’s English subtitles PG13).
The Private Server Phase.
Posted by MrSaints in Marvellous Misadventures Monday, 27 July 2009 00:22 No Comments
Well its summer once more. And just like last year, I have a sudden urge to manage private servers regardless of type and time. However, before I do go on, be sure to check this YouTube video I posted on the awesome… amazing and cool MapleStory Private Server (BankaiStory!) – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH4mzUaVe6s. It really isn’t much, and the render as well as upload were one of the main reasons why it came out with such poor FPS and quality; I do apologize however, hopefully my 2nd one would be better in the future.
Besides that, most of my unusual habits are returning, including… sleeping late, having interests in games all a sudden, browsing the forums, doing a little bit of programming, all-nighter msn chat with people half-way round the world… Ah the good times =P As I stated earlier, I have the sudden urge of managing a private server… yes… but alone with a few support from others I suppose?
Carrying on, I first thought of Ragnarok Online, but seeing as there is huge gradient between what we call a CRAPPY RO server towards a PRO RO server, I decided not to waste my time trying to compete which such burden. The next one was Habbo, but seeing as there are not many Habbo retros with a constantly large average amount of players online, it won’t probably be the best choice. Besides, its the type of game that you get bored after a while and requires loads of attention and server stability, or it will just plain suck. The next choice was RAN Online, but I personally dislike all the servers/emulators for it and I can’t be bothered to download the files, similiarly to Gunz as well.
Well, I decided the final choice should be MapleStory. regardless of how gay I think it is, and… urgh. I won’t say anymore. Its real great to fool around in. I only just realized this during my time in BankaiStory for the first time. But yea, I must admit it was really fun, and what makes servers like these so fun are mainly the players. Without them, your server is nothing
Whats in my mind now is The Simpsons, every 2am on Weekdays. Damn I can’t wait.
And no worries, I’m not here to steal player from Bankai, I love them ever so much
So its all going to be private and underground.
Sorry if this bored you out, its another one of my monologues type of blog posts.
P.S. Kenny is installing Mac onto his Dell =]
LiveZilla, the Web 3.0?
Posted by MrSaints in Horrible Critics, Spotlight Sunday, 21 June 2009 03:18 1 Comment
What is Web 2.0 in the first place?
The second generation of the World Wide Web, especially the movement away from static webpages to dynamic and shareable content. E.g. Ajax; dynamically loading pages without even refreshing or leaving the current URL or even dynamic form validation to prevent the consecutive form submissions till its valid.
So what is Web 3.0 then?
Well, if you ask me, a website can’t go any further from being dynamic besides being ultra dynamic, but how about site management? Recently I was using LiveZilla for my hosting services (as a Live Support), I was amazed at how everything worked and I would say this might be a clear example of a future Web 3.0 if not 4.0 web application.
To start with, I downloaded LiveZilla executable file wondering where the PHP side of it were. Yes I was that clueless. But after a while when I was clicking through the installation file, I have figured that LiveZilla executable came along with a LiveZilla Server Administration client. This client guided me through uploading the files from my computer to the correct directory through FTP (note: the files were all on the client! It was that simple! I need not do anything!). The database part was simple too, I only had to create a new database then click “Create Tables” on the client to build the database
So basically LiveZilla treated the standard PHP files and MySQL database as a SERVER. Now as most of you know a simple chatroom software would work like this:
Chatroom Client => Chat Room Server (most likely hosted and running as an executable or boot file).
Likewise with LiveZilla:
Administration Client => LiveZilla Server (Which is basically a bunch of files hosted on my web hosting).
So whats so UNIQUE about this?
In all my time of Web Development so far, I have not encounteered any Web system that allowed you to manage your web application as a whole through an external client. The fact you could just keep an application open and wait for a *ring* to realize someone is requesting a live support makes a huge difference compared to the historical method of keeping a web-based client opened that continuosly refreshes through the use of Ajax timeouts.
Its coming together.
If you haven’t realized already, Wordpress has already created their own iPhone/iPod Touch application which allows you to manage your posts and your blog as a whole through just one application. With the new generation of the iPod Touch and iPhone, Web APIs has become more and more popular. Web 3.0 is already here, and sites such as Twitter.com has led to the development of vast majority of external applications allowing us to communicate with their server.
In my opinion, the ease of web management is basically having the ability to manage it anywhere anytime. And API does the trick. So why is LiveZilla so good once again?
Let me ask a simple question.
Would you rather manage your Wordpress blog through visiting your admin panel at a specific domain… Or:
Would you rather have a software which you can launch and keep on the background allowing you to manage your database, plugins and everything just like visiting the standard URL.
In addition to this, the software may even feature a live feed that informs you with a single beep or alert box when someone has made a comment on your post or subscribed to your RSS.
MUCH MORE!
This is more than just creating a simple application that utilizes TWebBrowser component linking to a specific domain. Applications like these would feature a very easy to use interface with buttons like, “Add New Post!” or “Add New Page!”. It can be that simple.
So, Web 2.0 was all about the simplicity of delivering the content the viewers, but Web 3.0 would be all about the communication of Viewers -> Content -> Webmasters. Some say Web 3.0 will be the transition from Web Application to Web Services, but in my opinion, it can be anything
Just Imagine.
Just imagine one day, a Content Management System such as my SerenadeCMS being managed through an external application/software and accessible through a web client that communicates with the server providing live access details and possibly utilizing Geotracking, oh wonders.
For those MapleStory private servers out there, make life easier. Create a GM external-application that communicates with your SQL server and perhaps everytime some player makes a report, the external-application will recieve a server response and *beep* giving you a wake up. This saves so much time compared to the standard “web-based logs”. Or perhaps even accessing it through your iPhone or iPod Touch, and now with 3G, you can be doing it anywhere!
This is a really smart system in my opinion, and webmasters should really begin to open up and allow the development of their vast service such as what Facebook has done with Facebook Applications. The whole point of web development is to improve the feasibility of management and access.

Lets be Online DJs!
Posted by MrSaints in Spotlight, Stepping Stones Friday, 22 May 2009 17:24 No Comments

Alright guys, since I’m coming to the end of my exams, lets make a AEROSOL Exclusive ![]()
Well, last time… I got bored. So I decided to setup my own SHOUTcast. which basically is an online radio allowing you to listen to other people streaming or perhaps if you wish to stream yourself you would need a server.
So today I’ll run over the fundamentals of a SHOUTcast. server setup, and a streaming in a shoutcast.
And if you ever consider running your own SHOUTcast. at least you would know.
Just to mention it first, most SHOUTcast. hosting out there are quite pricey, it does exist and it is useful to get one, however its not very cheap, and you’ll have to consider your audience group and size beforehand. SHOUTcast. uses a lot of RAM too! And the quality of the music depends on your internet speed as well as your RAM.
The audio is streamed ahead, so if you stop streaming, there will still be some audio streaming for a while, there is a delay basically.
What can you do with SHOUTcast.?
- Map a hostname onto your IP address hosting the SHOUTcast. and turn it into a player for blogs, websites and more!
- Play your own music and be your own DJ! There are loads of applications out there adaptable with SHOUTcast. including VirtualDJ, and if you have a mic, you can start talking!
Please note you will need the following before we proceed:
- WINAMP Player (Any version is fine). – http://www.winamp.com/player/
- SHOUTcast. WINAMP Plugin – http://yp.shoutcast.com/downloads/shoutcast-dsp-1-9-0-windows.exe
- SHOUTcast. Server (DNAS Application) – For Windows
Installation:
1. Install WINAMP player first then close it if WINAMP is opened.
2. Install the SHOUTcast. Radio DSP Plug-in.
3. Install The SHOUTcast. Server (DNAS Application).
4. Close Any Of Them That Are Opened.
Configuration:
1. Configuring The DNAS Application (Server)

- Open It Up, If “Windows Security Alert” appear saying sc_serv.exe is block, unblock it. Click Unblock.
- Click Edit Config. Find “Password=changeme” using Ctrl-F, replace changeme with your desired password.
- You can also edit “MaxUser=32″ to the desired amount of users you want listening, please read the description above this config though, it states the negatives of setting more users.
- Save it and restart the DNAS Application.
2. Configuring WINAMP to broadcast!
- Change the skin of your WINAMP to something you can move around easily with, I like Bento.
- Click Options -> Preferences (Ctrl-P), On the tree menu above the Close button, scroll down till you see Plug-ins and DSP/Effect. Click on that.
In there you should see Nullsoft SHOUTcast. Source DSP or anything like that. Double click on it.
- On that menu you just opened, click “Output”.
If the server is hosted on your computer, leave the host “localhost” as it is.
Change the password field and click Connect.
- If your server is online (DNAS Application) you should be able to play music on your WINAMP and have it sent to your SHOUTcast. DNAS, in which you can use snippets or .pls files to let others here the music your playing or what your saying! An internat radio station!
- You can edit preferences like the server description under “Yellowpages”, the “What I’m Listening To” on MSN for people who listens to your radio will be this description.
- Feel free to move around and change settings were required. Try not to mess with the encoding though.

And there you have it, done.
How-To’s:
- Transfer Music?
Drag music onto Winamp or go to file -> add media.
- How do I speak?
Click Input on the SHOUTcast. Source console, change Winamp (recommended) to your microphone.
I’ll be updating in the future with integration with VirtualDJ!
Its basically like using WINAMP, except with VDJ.
P.S. Don’t forget to port forward if your using a modem or else people can’t hear you!
For more information, be sure to look it up
or post it here.
