Tumblr is gangster.
Posted by MrSaints in Marvellous Misadventures, Spotlight Wednesday, 10 February 2010 21:26 No Comments
Well, I obviously do not have much time to be blogging every now and again, so I guess I’ll start leaving this site to rot or perhaps make better use of it (Portfolio, perhaps? Forum?) So yea, I decided to go for something much more simpler in the lines of Micro Blogging (E.g. Twitter). But since Twitter only offers a 150 Words limit, I decided to try out Tumblr.

Since I’m not experiencing any problems with Tumblr so far and I’m actually having quite a bit of fun! I’ll continue using it, so byebye Wordpress. Hello Tumblr. I guess there’s nothing else much to say besides, Follow Me! On Tumblr + Twitter.
There’s nothing much better than seeing all these hilarious Tumblr posts and reblogging them.
If you’re interested in making some small contributions to the blog, please drop a comment and I’ll e-mail you regarding a few details. Besides, I’m quite fed up of all my previous posts (yeap yeap, they suck . I know).
Till next time, I’m signing off,
Ian Lai.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Posted by MrSaints in Marvellous Misadventures, Spotlight Wednesday, 23 December 2009 20:33 3 Comments
I haven’t been blogging for ages! By ages I think it has been over a few months now. However, a simple explanation for this is… “exams”. Yes, the cruel and deceitful evil that revolves around education. Its currently: “23rd December 2009″ and with Christmas only a few days away, I would like to wish everyone out there a big Merry X’Mas! And Happy New Year, wherever in the World you are. I’m stuck at home this holiday, but thats great. Nothing beats some family time and together-ness away from all the 21st Century disturbances.
To all the readers out there, I would like to extend my very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Lets hope for an dreadful exciting start to a new year with new challenges (I have enough challenges already, thank you very much).
For those who did not notice, this blog/website was actually closed for a good 2-weeks I believe? Well, I was fed up of having a bot do all the posting, fed up of the constant plugin updates and everything that goes along with Wordpress. A simple lesson I learnt from all this was: KEEP IT SIMPLE. So I spent the last 2 days removing unnecessary plugins and trying out a more simple layout approach, like it?
There’s not much else I can update besides the fact I was considering the idea of a “New Start” by removing all my old posts since I dislike several of them, but I’ll just keep it to remind myself how much I hate them
.
With that being said, yes, I find a “Post Rating” utterly useless. Yes, I find the “YouTube Widget” completely useless. Yes, I find all those “security” addons ineffectual. And yes, I find everything else I removed, unnecessary.
A few “what’s happening lately” is all on my Twitter, so go there and check it out. I’m still pretty sick after like what? 2 weeks? And I was given some “Pfizer” medication today by a new clinic (seeing as the last 3 failed). I only just realize “Pfizer” was only familiar to me cause of all those spam e-mails I get. Never knew they were actually advertising legitimate drugs (but their just affiliate sales websites, an attempt to earn easy money), hehe.
Well, happy holidays once again and hope to see everyone soon!
P.S. Thank you for the wonderful 1,000+ Unique Visitors PER DAY.
I would like to make a shoutout to:
YUI, HOMEN, ALEKS (FROM KRYPTODEV), MATEO (FROM LEAFRE), ALEX (FROM BANKAI), TOSHI AND EVERYONE ELSE!

Goodbye (:

New Modifications

Hey, if you have been checking this blog lately you’ll have noticed some changes
For starters, I’m not quite sure whether I should change the current template since its full of wonderful features I’m currently using for it as well as simple and organized. But anyways, lets run through the changes:
- Lifestream now auto-posts a “DIGEST” of my whole 24 hours lifestream log. So it will basically make a post with all the lifestream events within a 24 hours period into one post under the section DIGEST. Sub-category of GENERAL – Lifestream events located on the left side of the page.
- Added more feeds into the lifestream to grab from (E.g. Assembla, Twitpic, Photobucket and more!).
- Smart YouTube Plugin Added – This allows me to easily publish YouTube videos and have them show up on the RSS feeds correctly, its pretty handy and I added a “Aerosol Spotlight” onto the right side of the page, which will display the current highlight video of my choice everyday!
- WP-Polls, I installed this ages ago but I never actually remembered adding it onto the template, its not added and will show random blogs on the left hand side of the page, you can view the results or archive (on the page – navigation above).
- Security Updates, besides upgrading Wordpress (old story), I have installed Semisecure, Secure WP, CHAP System and some other stuff + some modifications of my own to secure my Wordpress just a little bit more than it is.
- Page Articles count increased (displays more on the main page now).
- Some other stuff I can’t recall?
Anyways, thats more or less about it, also, if my Flickr seems to be the same for quite some time, I may have posted the images on Twitpic instead, so you can check out my Twitpic for awesome uploads at:
Its more or less the same with my Flickr but I show featured stuff there instead ![]()
My Photobucket is set on private so I’m kinda’ lazy to change it and integrate it.
Besides that, thanks for viewing my blog hope you like the updates.
P.S. I got school tomorrow, shit busy, shit stressed and shit confused. Lol. Well… Not really, so I’ll be writing again soon! Also don’t forget to check my Twitter updates! *Tweet Tweet*
Does blogging improve your English?
Posted by MrSaints in Marvellous Misadventures Wednesday, 3 June 2009 03:59 7 Comments
Well I’m not sure or bothered if there has been another post similiar to this before somewhere in the World Wide Web. But recently some of my friends from a forum asked me, “Does blogging improve your English?”.
This was nonsense to me when I thought of it first, but then I reconsidered.
Why I reconsidered?
Well for starters, when you blog, the blogger tends to worry about the viewers reading his/her posts.
So because of that, they will have a tendency to check through for any mistakes and typos. This is not the case for people like me however. So thanks for asking if you were about to
Another reason why I thought this might be the case is because, most blogs I’ve seen (mostly review-like blogs), will always make use of technical terms, whether its talking about FTP (File Transfer Protocols) or the Ida (missing link). So by blogging you basically do a bit of research, thus broadening your knownledge or understanding on a certain issue.
Spellcheckers… This is not always the case, but there are plugins for Wordpress, or even your browser to ensure what your typing isn’t grammatically incorrect or badly phrased. Because of these annoying checkers, you have a tendency to make less mistake overtime to avoid correcting them. Its like getting burnt by a fire and realizing it huts a lot so you shouldn’t touch it.
However, in the case of you actually reading a blog, I suppose you can improve your English by finding new words in the users’ blog or perhaps his/her structure. Now as I would say again, this is not always the case, as we have many random and low standard blogs out there, full with grammatical and phrasing errors (it deserves all the red and green underlines!). However if its a typo, I guess thats excusable, so long as its understandable.
For video logs however, I don’t really know how it would help your English. After all, if the users’ make use of a complicated word with their awesome vocabulary, without the knownledge of how to spell it, you can’t find the meaning of it, savvy?
I don’t exactly find this blog of use, but hope it answered your question (you know who you are!).
Other than that, I don’t garauntee blogging help improve any specific language.
Well, not to an extent like reading a book or going for a crash course on English language.
To some extent it may help the literature side though? What do you think…?
